Dear USAWE Members,
During the past month, I’ve received several inquiries from members asking about initiating USAWE’s involvement with other equine organizations. I love hearing from members who are interested in promoting our sport and working together with other groups! Some of the ideas included United States Pony Club (USPC), breed, and local equine clubs.
This brings me to the concept of outreach. Outreach to other groups is a wonderful idea, and an essential component to growing our sport and organization. We’ve done a superb job growing via word of mouth; and taking
advantage of the inherent excitement the discipline brings to riders and spectators alike. As we move into a more mature stage of growth, I believe it’s important for us to proactively reach out to additional equine disciplines and groups and spread the word about WE, and how it is valuable (and fun) cross training. National organizations, regional associations, and local riding clubs are all good prospects for engaging new riders, volunteers or supporters. I encourage members to check into possible affiliations and joint activities with equine clubs or organizations in their region or locality.
A couple of reminders from the Competitions and Rules committees:
- The deadline for submitting rule change requests is August 1. Requests received after that date will go into the queue for the following rule change period.
- As of last month, the Competitions Committee has received a Zone Championship proposal only for the Central Zone. That means the deadline automatically extends for both the Eastern and Western zones. Show management groups interested in hosting Zone Championships for those regions, can still get their proposals in. Contact the Competitions Committee with any questions.
Work hard. Play hard. And enjoy every moment!
With much appreciation,
