Hello to everyone in Region 1!

As mentioned in the Membership Report above, Donna Luoma is heading up a great idea with the member feature articles. Region 1 ended up being one of the lucky few to receive a member feature article! Introducing USAWE Region 1 member, Leslie Quenell!

“Hi!
I am Leslie Quenell of Lopez Island, WA. I am a new member and started learning WE last spring with my Quarter horse, Fox. He is a 15-year-old and loves trails. He also seems to enjoy the obstacles, and we are working on the dressage piece. Our biggest challenge is the gate, but he enjoys the rest of the obstacles. Working on the obstacles has helped him overcome his claustrophobia. My favorite obstacle is the double slalom because Fox really gets into it. Fox and I have been learning and practicing dressage before WE and continue to do dressage as well as our favorite trail riding. I grew up in SE Oregon chasing cows up and down the Warner Mountains. Fox and I love cow work…no surprise as that is what he was bred to do.

I learned about WE from the internet and went to our first clinic last summer with Kelly Munro. I intend to keep practicing and learning WE and dressage and hope to go to more clinics/shows in the next year.”
