So much Talent in region 5!
I just wanted to highlight some recent accomplishments of our Region 5 members this year, because they are AWESOME!
Kris Blacklock joins the ranks of Lifetime Bronze Medal Winners!
Wisconsin USAWE member Kris Blacklock secured the final scores needed to earn a Lifetime Bronze Rider Medal in Working Equitation at the Kemp Horsemanship competitions on July 24-25, 2021. Kris earned her scores on her beloved Quarter Horse mare Boon Ocean Blue, who unexpectedly passed away June 12th, and on her gaited Rocky Mountain Horse gelding Gambler’s Jackpot who made his L3 debut that weekend. Both horses were self-trained and successfully competed in all (4) Trials – Dressage, Ease of Handling, Speed and Cow Working.

Another Major accomplishment for a Region 5 member this year was the completion of a MASTER’S LEVEL RIDE! At USAWE Brecksville competitions held September 4-5th Emily Gill and her Morgan, Coulee Bend Kahlua, competed at Master’s level! They earned scores of 65.74 in dressage and 66% in EOH. How cool to have such talent in our region! It was really awesome for the other competitors to gather and watch the Master’s level rounds. A handful of youth were competing at these shows as well and I couldn’t help but to think how wonderful it was for the next generation of Working Equitation riders got to see what can be done. Hopefully, they are inspired to someday do it themselves.
There are MANY wonderful trainers. judges, clinicians, competitors, and enthusiasts in region 5 but I just wanted to highlight these folks on their recent, wonderful accomplishments!
